May 29, 2009: An international panel of experts led by NOAA and sponsored by NASA has released a new prediction for the next solar cycle. Solar Cycle 24 will peak, they say, in May 2013 with a below-average number of sunspots.

“If our prediction is correct, Solar Cycle 24 will have a peak sunspot number of 90, the lowest of any cycle since 1928 when Solar Cycle 16 peaked at 78,” says panel chairman Doug Biesecker of the NOAA Space Weather Prediction Center.

Right: A solar flare observed in Dec. 2006 by NOAA’s GOES-13 satellite.

It is tempting to describe such a cycle as “weak” or “mild,” but that could give the wrong impression.

Jihad

Quotation:

bullet The best jihad [struggle] is (by) the one who strives against his own self for Allah, The Mighty and Majestic,” Hadith (sayings of the Prophet Muhammad). 1
bullet Fight in the cause of Allah those who fight you, but do not transgress limits; for Allah loves not transgressors.” Qur’an, Chapter 2, verse 190.

horizontal rule

Meanings of “Jihad:”

Jihad” and “Mujahid” (one who carries out a jihad) are two religious words that have been given multiple meanings:

bullet Many accounts in the media define “jihad” as a synonym for “holy war,” — a vicious clash between followers of different religions, each of whom believes that God is on their side and that the other side is is of Satan. This usage often appears on Western TV, radio, and other media during news about the Middle East, where it is used to describe a call for Muslims to fight against non-Muslims in the defense of Islam. Some Muslims have begun to adopt this meaning of “jihad” as a result of Western influence.
bullet Others use the term as a synonym for a struggle of any type. This reflects the origin of the word from the Arabic verb “jahada” which means to struggle or figh

The first thing that one should know and clearly understand about Islam is what the word “Islam” itself means. The religion of Islam is not named after a person as in the case of Christianity which was named after Jesus Christ, Buddhism after Gotama Buddha, Confucianism after Confucius, and Marxism after Karl Marx. Nor was it named after a tribe like Judaism after the tribe of Judah and Hinduism after the Hindus. Islam is the true religion of “Allah” and as such, its name represents the central principle of Allah’s “God’s” religion; the total submission to the will of Allah “God”. The Arabic word “Islam” means the submission or surrender of one’s will to the only true god worthy of worship “Allah” and anyone who does so is termed a “Muslim”, The word also implies “peace” which is the natural consequence of total submission to the will of Allah. Hence, it was not a new religion brought by Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) I in Arabia in the seventh century, but only the true religion of Allah re-expressed in its final form.

Islam is the religion which was given to Adam, the first man and the first prophet of Allah, and it was the religion of all the prophets sent by Allah to mankind. The name of God’s religion lslam was not decided upon by later generations of man. It was chosen by Allah Himself and clearly mentioned in His final revelation to man. In the final book of divine revelation, the Qur’aan, Allah states the following:

“This day have I perfected your religion for you, completed My favour upon you, and have chosen for you Islam as your religion”. (Soorah Al-Maa’idah 5:3)

“If anyone desires a religion other than Islam (submission to Allah (God) never will It be accepted of Him” (Soorah Aal’imraan 3:85)

“Abraham was not a Jew nor Christian; but an upright Muslim.” (Soorah Aal’imraan 3:67)

Nowhere in the Bible will you find Allah saying to Prophet Moses’ people or their descendants that their religion is Judaism, nor to the followers of Christ that their religion is Christianity. In fact, Christ was not even his name, nor was it Jesus! The name “Christ” comes from the Greek word Christos which means the annointed. That is, Christ is a Greek translation of the Hebrew title “Messiah”. The name “Jesus” on the other hand, is a latinized version of the Hebrew name Esau.

For simplicity’s sake, I will however continue to refer to Prophet Esau (PBUH) as Jesus. As for his religion, it was what he called his followers to. Like the prophets before him, he called the people to surrender their will to the will of Allah; (which is Islam) and he warned them to stay away from the false gods of human imagination.

According to the New Testament, he taught his followers to pray as follows: “Yours will be done on earth as it is in Heaven”.

Islam clearly divides members of the opposite sex into mahram (relatives that, by law, you cannot marry) and non-mahram (those who are marriageable). It is haram to mix freely with non-mahram and, therefore, having a relationship before marriage (boyfriend or girlfriend) is strictly forbidden.

There is no such thing as “dating” in Islam. When young Muslims are able to marry, they are encouraged to find a suitable partner for marriage, following strict rules of courtship, and always keeping the intention of marriage at the forefront of any interaction.

Dear “Be My Valentine”

February 14, 2010

Dear “Be My Valentine”, if you are a non-Muslim, there shouldn’t be a problem for you to celebrate Valentine’s Day. However, if you are a Muslim, you should re-think your action in trying to celebrate a non-Muslim event. Astaghfirullaahal’aziim. Valentine’s Day is only for Christians not for Muslims.

We have our own Muslim events that should be celebrated wisely. If you say that we should celebrate because “it’s a day to celebrate love”, then you should re-think again. In Islam, everyday is to be filled with love. There’s no such thing as a “Love day” because Islam teaches us to love and respect what has been gifted by Allah The Almighty EVRYDAY.

Just like when we love our parents, we love them everyday, not only during Valentines’s Day, or Mother’s day, or Father’s Day. Then what happen to the rest of the calendar days of the year? And in your case, do you love your partner just on Valentine’s Day? What happens after Valentine’s Day?

I’m sure you will still love him/her, right. Again, if you are Muslim, it’s HARAM to celebrate Valentine’s Day because “Valentine” is a name of a Christian’s Priest (or something – not sure) – His name is Saint Valentine.

Therefore, in Islam, there’s no such name as Saint Valentine listed and we should not celebrate his day. We have our own Muslim celebrations that we should be proud of, like the New Year of Hijrah, the Birthday of our beloved Nabi Muhammad Sallallaahu ‘Alaihi Wassalam (PBUH) which is coming very soon, and other Muslim Celebrations.

If we, the Muslims ourselves, don’t celebrate our own Muslim celebrations and who will? I don’t see other religions celebrating our BIG DAYS as grand as we celebrate theirs. Have u seen any? I don’t think so.

Anyway, if you are a Muslim, please think again. When it’s stated it’s HARAM, please do not do it because it will only bring Allah’s fury to you, and Brunei as a country. If you are not a Muslim, then of course, I don’t have any objection for you to do so.

bird is standing by to eat this starving child

The bird is standing by to eat this starving child. This picture was voted as the best the best journalistic photography many years ago. And the photographer later committed suicide because of his emotional breakdown attaching to his own work.

The suicide note he left behind is a litany of nightmares and dark visions, a clutching attempt at autobiography, self-analysis, explanation, excuse. After coming home from New York, he wrote, he was “depressed … without phone … money for rent … money for child support … money for debts … money!!! … I am haunted by the vivid memories of killings & corpses & anger & pain … of starving or wounded children, of trigger-happy madmen, often police, of killer executioners…” And then this: “I have gone to join Ken if I am that lucky.”

Today every Maldivian are supports of some party even me also the hardcore activist in MDP. Every family is suffering from this democracy fever and in some family it’s a very big problem sometime divorce their wives because of this new fever. I know this will happen in every change, changing one system to another system but we must find the solution for this fever

The MDP want change the government system and DRP want their own system and we don’t know what we want, we are just blindly following from them, if I am a MDP I will always blaming maumoon and DRP members, and if I am DRP i will always blaming ANNI and their party members but this has no solution for this nation and our life
